What’s The Purpose Of Our Worship After All?
Paul wrote in Philippians 2:9-11: “For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (emphasis mine).
According to this verse, God sent us Jesus so that we would worship Him. It’s not something we throw into a church service just because it’s always been done that way. God is deeply passionate about us being His worshipers!
Ok, so it’s not optional. But what does the Bible say is the purpose of our worship – of the pouring out of ourselves in response to all God is?
