Write your own worship “psalm” to the Lord every day for the next 5 days. OR begin and add more to the same one each day. Use it to proclaim who He is, remember what He has done, and profess your trust in what He will do. Don’t neglect to include repentance if He reveals something to you along the way. And end your time each day by reading it aloud to Him. (And imagine the joy on your God’s face!)
If you’d like, study some of the psalms by David and others to get inspiration or to see the flow of their worship to God. (Some different ones to consider might be Psalms 40, 46, 47, 63, 84, and 103. Too many great ones to choose from though!) But it’s important that this be your own – a pouring out from your relationship with God. Don’t rush it – meditate on Him and wait for the words to come. Length doesn’t matter. It’s the humble, expressive response of your heart and mind to your amazing God.
Finally, how about some inspiration from David’s prayer:
“Bring joy to the soul of your servant, for to you, Lord, do I lift up my soul.
For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive; abundant in loving kindness to all those
who call on you. . . All nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord.
They shall glorify your name. For you are great, and do wondrous things.
You are God alone. Teach me your way, Yahweh. I will walk in your truth.
Make my heart undivided to fear your name. I will praise you, Lord my God,
with my whole heart. I will glorify your name forevermore.
For your loving kindness is great toward me” Psalm 86:4-5, 9-13a.
Amen! Now enjoy!
I’d love to hear how this challenge has impacted your week. I look forward to hearing from you!
Also, why not encourage your small group or Bible study to take this challenge with you. Not that you would necessarily share your psalms with each other (unless you want to, of course), but so you could encourage one another in it and share the impact of the challenge.
