Jesus. He chose the simplest of earthly beginnings and the humblest of ends. May we choose the only appropriate response to baby Jesus this Christmas – to the inconceivable love – and stop to remember and humble ourselves before all He was and is. In the manger. On the cross. And in our lives. For all eternity.
“For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).
“BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL,” which translated means, “GOD WITH US”
(Matthew 1:23).
“And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).
“The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29).
“Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life’” (John 8:12).
“So Jesus said to them again, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you . . . I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved . . . I am the good shepherd;
the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep’” (John 10:7,9,11).
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me’” (John 14:6).
“But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that, just as it is written,
“LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD” (1 Corinthians 1:30-31).
“For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW,
of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11).
" . . . the mystery . . . is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:26-27).
